QUOTE (Warhammer Herald)
WAAAGH!!!

Servers, servers - get'ya servers! Below you will find the server names we anticipate being available at Launch. These will begin going live Sunday, September 14th with the Collector’s Edition Head Start and will continue to roll out leading up to Launch on September 18th.

Players will be able to choose from four server types: Core, Open RvR, Roleplay, and a hybrid Roleplay/Open RvR ruleset. We will continue to open up servers supporting different server types as the need arises.

Core Ruleset

Core servers are just what you’d expect. These are servers that have everything Warhammer has to offer, with no special changes to the normal ruleset. RvR is confined to lakes and Scenarios, and there are two opposing realms engaged in the WAR. Players may only engage in Player vs. Player combat when flagged to do so in specific areas around the world. Select a Core ruleset server for the original exciting gameplay experience that WAR was designed to offer.

Open RvR Ruleset

The Open RvR servers feature RvR flagging everywhere except for the Tier 1 Chapter area and the surrounding PvE content. Once players leave this area, they will be flagged for RvR anywhere in the game. Open RvR servers are perfect for those who want to add an extra challenge to their gaming experience. Players must constantly watch their backs or risk attack by enemies everywhere they go! Only members of opposing realms may attack each other; the Open RvR server still focuses on Order versus Destruction.

Rules:

- Players are always RvR flagged from the moment they log in
- Chapter 1 hubs and capital cities are safe
- There is no bolster buff in RvR lakes
- Players will be chickened when entering an area that is two tiers below their level (ex. A Tier 3 player entering a Tier 1 area.)

Roleplay and Roleplay/Open RvR

Any server flagged as Roleplay will follow the same rules as above, but with an additional set of guidelines. These servers are for those players who enjoy truly immersing themselves into the Warhammer lore by acting as their characters’ personalities in-game. Players who opt to participate on a Role Playing server must agree to far more specific rules regarding naming, and it is suggested that players would adhere to WAR or high fantasy conduct and behavior.

I am wondering if the servers are grouped by those that will be up first. Since not all of them will be up for early access. Oh well I guess I will just play whatever's up.

How can it be *THE* PvP server if it's a core ruleset?

The following will be up for CE early access:

Red Eye Mountain Core
Skull Throne Core
Badlands Core
Sylvania Core
Volkmar Core
Averheim (New) Core
Azazel (New) Core
Ulthuan (New) Core
Hochland Open RvR
Wolfenburg Open RvR
Dark Crag Open RvR
Bechafen (New) Open RvR
Phoenix Throne Roleplay
Ostermark (New) Roleplay
Chaos Wastes RP/Open RvR

Which to play which to play.

Because Open is bullshit anyways. Why have world pvp when you get chickened? Even WoW isn't that gay.

Yeah but WoW is gay in that me a level 34 Priest has been camped twice within an hour by 2 different level 70 druids. That's WoW gay.

I am, but apparently everyone who wants to play on the core server as an official PvP Lords server obviously has tired of sucking it up.

It's probably the same people who think DAoC is a real PvP game.

Anyway I am playing order on Hochland. It's pretty quiet thus far.

I thought you were all set to play Destruction Nubs. What changed your mind?

I'm playing Order on the Azazel server. A Rune Priest named Maraud (Lvl-15 RR-11 as of last night).

I am still loving my Swordmaster. It started out pretty sux but at 20 I am much much happier with it. I had hoped to get higher before the general population hit the game but life goes on! Are you guys playing with friends on those servers or did you just pick a random name?

It was a coordinated server choice. Virakar was looking to go to a server with some good guilds (both Ally and Enemy), while avoiding the "It" PvP servers that attract the Zerg and blowhard guilds. Mostly worked except that Goon Squad came in on the Destruction side. They may have already moved off though. Not sure yet.

I tried making an Order char on Hochland but there was no one around. Up till chapter 2 i must have run into maybe 3 other players. Looking at the server lists there appears to be a glut of Destruction on most servers with relatively low Order in opposition. So I moved to Dark Crag, and also rolled a Black Orc on Ulthuan.

Yeah I specifically picked a lower population server. It's usually sitting medium to high order side and full on destruction side most days. My SM is 24 at the moment seems like I made a good choice thus far. Guild I am in is going to try taking a lowbie keep this week. Have tried with PuGs a few times but the destruction folks mob the shit out of us if it isn't taken fast. Doesn't really seem like much you can do to stop a big enough zerg.

Wow I was looking at some census thing someone posted and it seems like the order to destruction ratio on Hochland is like 1:3.3 rofl.

I don't get why so many people are dumb enough to go Destruction. I mean it is just like trying to be a PK in UO except there are soo many other PKs that you've got to go Anti-PK just to fight people. I'd totally be Order if I was playing.

*shrug* it's crazy how many destruction there are on my server. It's fucking fun during keep fights though. Something just feels good about holding off a force more than 3 times the size of your own for a long ass while before finally being overrun. Maybe it's because I'm from Texas... Remember the Alamo and all that hahaha.

I am only 26 thus far but my hardon for my swordmaster continues to rage on. Next level I will pick up a pretty pimp tanking tactic which should make me live even longer. As it stands even being mobbed I still can stand long enough to get a few blows in before going down solo and with a healer I can literally push chunks of the enemy line backward (have an ability called gusting wind that throws people in front of me back in PvP). With collision detection tanking actually gets to be pretty fun, I can put myself between my healer and they literally have to kill me or try to go around and in a narrow enough choke point you can actually make an okay stand. CD also works to the disadvantage of large zergs. I don't know how many kills I've made in a large battle simply because people get stuck on their own teammates and can't get away. It's beautiful. On the PvE front the char is just a fucking beast. I can literally pull 30 even con or better mobs and tank them long enough to get aggro without a single heal. It's sorta like AE levelling with my PoM in AoC except it takes a lot more micro management and I would say is equally as entertaining as tanking was in WoW. I can't wait til my guild is high enough level to start fucking with tier 3 content. Tier 2 keeps are tiny little shitholes whereas tier 3 keeps are even bigger than the newer DAoC keeps with multiple levels of defense etc. I'm sure by tier 4 they are ridiculously large. They are also pretty cool in that you can set up siege equipment at certain spots on the wall, set up oil to pour down on the folks hammering away at the gate w/ a ram, etc. So far PvP is pretty fun and PvE is as tolerable as WoW's with a few minor annoyances. Hopefully it stays interesting at least until WoTLK comes out.
