Hey All,

Long time lurker (pre Shadowbane days). Finally got around to registering after the forum reset.

Anyway, I woke up this morning and checked my e-mail and found a nice Warhammer Online Open Beta key waiting for me. Was anybody else so lucky?

Bad news is, I'm not sure if my computer will run it. I meet all min system reqs but I'm not sure if my GeForce 4 TI 4600 is up to the task. I'm about 3 months away from building a beast of a gaming machine, but that doesn't really help me right now.

Also, welcome. How does one lurk for ~6-8+ years anyway?

If you wanna be super cheap a radeon 9600 has pixel shader 2.0 and is roughly the same card as a ti4600 haha. You should be able to find one on the cheap. Per google like 43.50 on overstock.com for a 9600 pro rofl.

video cards are so cheap there is really no reason to get a 50 dollar card when you can spring for another 50 and get a pretty damn amazing one.

hey a 9600 is a badass video card! Or was : P The ti4600 ultra was my favorite video card I have ever owned. I didn't replace it until I wanted to play something that needed shader 2.0. I wonder how long I will stretch the 8800GTXs I have now. I will probably get annoyed enough to build a new machine next year.

I just got this laptop and it seems to run warhammer just fine. I think all my computers from now on will be laptops. they seem to keep their value for resale a lot longer than desktops.

I never resell anything I either reuse some of the parts or add it to my ever expanding pile of shit that I throw away once every 5 or so years.

I had an account on the old site, I think I posted a few times. But yea, who knows. I've been her since pre-shadowbane days.

In any case, I am trying to get another 6 months out of my computer so I am looking at the best AGP cards in the 80-120 range. I've found a few possibilities.

I so approve of your avatar Jason.

And I still don't care about warhammer.

edit: Ewww, and you're from Kentucky. I feel sorry for you. I hope nowhere near Corbin or Williamsburg.

I don't think anyone *cares* about warhammer. It just happens to be the not-WoW flavor of the month mmorpg.

Spore looks like the most amazing concept ever while simultaneously looking like what will be one of the most boring games since EVE online. Also it's not an mmorpg so it will never fill the MMO void! I may buy it but there are a lot of games coming out over the next few months so I dunno.

I already played Spore. It was called Super Mario Galaxy, I mean Populous.

I never really got into the "play god" style games. Sim City was amusing I guess back when I was like 12 or something. I dunno it's fun for like 10 minutes wrecking what you have built but I guess not actually filling a role within the game makes it a bit dull.

I'm so sorry guys, Spore is boring. =(

Don't feel like going in details right now, you'll find it out by yourselves soon enough anyway.

I think the whole game is more of a "Let's see if we can do this..." rather than a "Let's make a fun game!" title.

The problem is not that the game is basically a sandbox, but it's a very shallow sandbox with 5 different types of sand in a 5m square surface. So you get to play with many seemingly different types of sand, but you usually don't have enough of the type of sand you want to make your castle. You're basically forced to play with every kind of sand, even if you don't want to.
