Maybe now is a good time to start making suggestions about site content?

My vote would be to make a conscious effort as a whole not to be gay to anyone new who posts rofl.
As for content you basically have to have someone to write news articles or at least some sort of comedy if you want any sort of traffic from that. I am not sure what other types of content would be interesting for a gaming site? |

A videos section would be nice. If we had one I'd make plenty of gaming videos ala Screw Attack. If someone wants to make a watermark I'll set up a pker.org viddler account.

I'll write shit if there's a method to do so. I used to post news and write impressions/mini-articles on here all the time but I stopped because you guys didn't give a shit and I felt like nobody was reading them. If there was a formal place for me to post them, I'd do so again.

QUOTE A videos section would be nice. If we had one I'd make plenty of gaming videos ala Screw Attack. If someone wants to make a watermark I'll set up a pker.org viddler account. I kind of think posting videos would be diluting what would probably already be a thin base of content. If we're going to do something, we should do it well. If we have like 7 sections, news, articles, videos, reviews, previews etc and each section has like 2 pieces of crap content, that look really bad. But if we had say 1 or 2 sections with more refined unique content, we might be able to attract some attention. What makes us as a community special that we can share with the internets? I don't think it's videos. I think perhaps back and forth articles would be a good place to start. Take one of the many topics we disagree on (for example, AoC's quality as a new MMO and what it brings to the table) and then have a few people write point/counterpoint articles. It'd be capitalizing on what we already do, bullshit at each other, but just make it a bit more structured and well thought out. Combine that with a news section, put them on a well designed front page where a new user can see we have artcles, the forum and news, and we're on our way. Then later on if we think we can keep up more quality sections, we add them as we go. My two cents. |

1) Create content.
2) Make a viral video to generate traffic. 3) ??? 4) Profit! Seriously, I'd offer my help but I really don't have the time for anything lately. RL owns meh. -------------------- Swiss cheese gone BAD!

Viddler>Youtube. That's what we use for the Dark Jester Network. With Viddler you can upload like 500mb videos. Yay for streaming 720p.

I think you have to get a front page, but if you do I think you get $500.00, but that could be a myth my high ass made up.

Alright, here are a few ideas.
How about a cross between MMORPG.com and RottenTomatoes that would cater exclusively to people interested in PVP? Basically you'd have information about the game (date of release, company, etc.) with a brief synopsis (PVP type, instanced or not, etc.) and users could weigh in on the game's "PK score", offer a brief description of their gaming experience and a more in-depth review if they so desire (with a date indicating when the review was typed). Any multiplayer game that would properly elicit a feeling of prey stalking, killing frenzy, induced grief or overall "pwnage" is to be considered, which means MMORPGs as well as some FPS games would be eligible. Maybe even a couple of RTS games? Forumites would be able to create a member profile, complete with the PVP games they played, their achievements (e.g. member of top server guild for blabla years) and write their own blogs. Veteran forum users (like us) and certified bad asses who submitted proof of their achievements would be considered as the "cream of the crop" (ala RottenTomatoes) and users would be able to access their reviews by clicking a special tab when viewing the information about a specific game. A way to get forumites to accumulate "forum exp" would also contribute to create a more active community. Top users who got involved a lot in the forum and who submitted many news for moderators to post on the main page would get the ability to post news themselves. Members with many posts or certified bad asses would be able to submit user-made videos. Users considered part of the "PVP think tank" (e.g. Darthus) would get their articles featured on the main page. Basically, what I'm suggesting is implementing a core website "frame" ("We help YOU find YOUR ideal PVP game!") and possibly adding a few gimmicks to keep the forum base involved. Of course, if you guys would rather randomly talk shit about MMO games and frequently engage in overarching, esoteric discussions about game mechanisms, we could do that too. Just don't wonder why we don't get more people. Edit: small things like "PVP screenshot of the week" or "featured user" would also help keep the forum goers involved. I'm sure we could come up with many more gimmicks like this. -------------------- Swiss cheese gone BAD!

Oh, and subtly advertising on other forums (signature) once we get something solid done would be a way to entice people to visit the forum. Not before, or people will simply laugh and forget about the amateurish website.
