Blizzard hopes to have StarCraft II on store shelves in the first half of 2010.

Chris Sigaty, production director of StarCraft II, revealed the game’s targeted launch window in an interview for Blizzcast, an official podcast focusing on games created by Blizzard. Sigaty also stated in the interview that the current beta test of the game should last for around three months.

StarCraft II is the sequel to a 1998 real-time strategy game that puts players in control of one of three science fiction-themed factions.

A full transcript of the interview, which offers insight into Blizzard’s testing process as the game comes to completion, is worth reading for both casual fans of the game and those looking for some high-end discussion of the way the game will play.

I don't understand the love SC gets. Bet SC2 doesn't even have stuff like cover, supressing fire or armor classes, ala Company of Heroes. It's a shallow, moronic game to me.

I think the thing with SC is just that it's really well balanced, plays smoothly and doesn't require massive amounts of RTS nerding out to get into. Just because the units are fairly simple doesn't mean the strategies have to be. Look at checkers. Requires a shitton of strategy with only one unit and a couple of types of movement/attack.

I played the beta a little bit it's kinda fun but honestly I am more interested in any new tower defense maps people make than actually playing the game otherwise lol.

Tell that to the Koreans.

they wouldn't know a decent game if it slapped their eyes open wide enough to see it. Thats why Koreans make the games they make, they can barely see shit else they have to make it as good looking as possible, completely forgetting that its supposed to be a game and not a frickin computer bases painting of some sorts.

this shit is horridly overrated.

~~~
however i will probably pick it up anyways cuz i like strategy games.
but def not immediately. ill wait till theres a price drop or something.
I am not all thrilled about it but obviously the game is the most popular game of its type for a reason haha.
