For those of you who have been waiting for some really big news to come out of the video game industry, Microsoft answered your call Monday with its innovative "Project Natal," a hands-free motion-sensitive controller system.

Announced during Microsoft's annual E3 press conference, Project Natal seems almost certainly to be the culmination of several years of work by an Israeli start-up called 3DV Systems, which Microsoft recently acquired.

The technology, as demonstrated (see video below), appears geared toward allowing users to control games, movies, and anything else on their Xbox system with their hands alone, and without touching any hardware.

Go watch the vid.

I'm actually kind of impressed. I don't think it'll be all that great for gaming, but the tech behind it all is pretty damn cool. The Wiimote will probably still be better for sword fighting games now that they have the 1:1 movement add-on. Isn't that all anyone ever wanted to do with motion controls anyway?

Shit will fail, there's no sensory feedback. "How cool! You're pretending to steer an invisible wheel!" instead of just having a real driving wheel controller to play with. Yeeeah... no.

Also, I had to turn off the sound to watch the gimmicky video. Unfortunately, this didn't shield me from the phony smiles.

Not to mention that FPS/RTS/RPG/MMORPG games won't benefit a lick from this kind of shit => do nawt kare!

I think there will probably be a huge market for this based solely on how well the wii is doing with it's silly gimmick alone. Not that I know a single adult outside of the internet that actually used their wii for more than a week or two after purchasing it.

I think for most actual "gamers" this won't sell for shit as we tend to be lazy pieces of shit that don't want to stand around jumping up and down like a retard to play a game. I guess it could take the whole wii fit style fitness game to a decent level though. And obviously first person style boxing/fighting games could be amusing as well. Neither of those style games sound like something I would want to play often though.

I think the technology used for other things could be pretty cool. Like a gesture based television remote or something. *shrug*

Yeah if I could just wave my arm to the right to change the channel, that'd be cool.

Or like "pull" the screen toward you to zoom in on her tits. Brilliant.

Or if it could sense when I'm finished masturbating and then turn the porn off automatically while I drift to sleep ...

Jesus that would be amazing. I'm always so sleepy after I jerk it that I am usually worried I will pass out with cock in hand and some creepy CP gang bang on the tele... This would totally let me rest easy...
