I just saw it the other day, I've since watched it a couple more times, and I've gotta say that I love that shit. I never really watched the series(es) except with my dad when I was real little, but this movie makes me want to watch them all.

Have you seen it?

What did you think?

Though I always enjoyed the Wayans brothers TV show, their films have been hit and miss with me. The previews for Dance Flick dont seem all that promising, but looks can be decieving. I would be pretty surprised if you had to watch their TV series to understand Dance Flick though, I didnt get the impression from the previews that the two were going to have overlapping stories.

Did you get to see a sneak preview or what? I didnt think it came out til Friday...

We are talking abou the Wayans brothers right? I cant think of any other long-running television series with a fanatical following that was recently turned into a movie.

Right?

Right?

I think it's hilarious, given the whole Star Wars/ Star Trek drama between fanboys, that the new generation Star wars ended up kiddifying itself and became a ridiculous flop (I don't got simply by box office numbers), whereas the new generation Star Trek, which personally I would EXPECT to suck, is getting critical acclaim and probably a bunch of follow up movies. And yes, the movie was good...It almost makes me want to go and watch all the Star Trek movies I haven't seen yet, so it's almost retro-actively good.

I'm seriously considering having it on continuous loop at my house.

I always hated Trek and loved Wars but it would in fact seem that the tides have turned. The newest Wars movies was a trio of abomination and though I have not seen the Trek movie yet, ive not heard anything at all bad yet. At it has a Metacritic score of like 84 which is extremely good for a wide-release movie over there. I dont think i would pay money to see the new Trek movie, just on principle, but if someone else rented it (or better yet, paid for a movie ticket for me) i would see it. I wish the new Wars movies were given the TLC that the Trek movie clearly was given. It was evident even in the previews I saw that they made an effort not to gay up the whole series, and I cant say the same for the new Wars trilogy or that stupid ass animated series/movie.

And, to make matter worse, SWG which started off so strong (but admittedly buggy) sucks now, the Knights of the Old Republic MMO sounds pretty lame (i know other will disagree on this point, but nothing about the game makes it sound like something I want to play).

And the Star Trek MMO sounds to be exactly what I hoped for in a Star Wars MMO. Gah.

This is obviously going to boost the interest in all things Star Trek marketable. The game might be much better than any of us can imagine, especially that considering the usual quality of games based on the franchise, it wouldn't be too hard.

Yeah, it's not about liking Star Trek. It's a good, exciting movie regardless. JJ Abrams makes good shit in general, Lost included.

I LOVE how JJ tore the Star Trek mythos apart and rebuilt it. This opens the door for future ST:TOS movies without worrying about breaking canon, and i will go to every damn one of them.

I wasn't ultra impressed with it but I didn't hate it. I found the random sucking of the fan cock pretty amusing. It was a decent action flick if that's what you are into and the casting was pretty decent I felt... It was better than Terminator Salvation lol.

I saw Trek. It made me sad. Its what new Star Wars movies should have been :-(

The one thing that really bothered me was all of the lights shining into the camera constantly. Literally, every 4 seconds a bright light would shine into the camera and cause a lens flare and it was really fucking stupid. Other than that, the movie was pretty cool.
