Mort, would you be willing to give me the domain or do you plan to sell it?

But, if Mort wants to put up a paypal donation thing with one of those fancy "this is how much money donated this month" dealies, I'd gladly donate 10 sometimes 20 bucks a month to keep er up and runnin.
If we must say goodbye, you can always find me at muh blawg, http://bdadv.blogspot.com It sucks and all that, but it's got comments, so you can make fun of me. I joined the PKerorg group Nubs created on google, so I'll be there too! Plus there is always bonedead at gmail dot com, for those who want more intimate conversations.

Really, this is most of the problem. There isnt anyone new. We have all been here forever. Ive been here for like 5 or 6 years and im not really even "old crew". There isnt even anyone new to make fun of or anything. I hope that Mort gives/sells the domain to one of you guys because I'd hate to see this place disappear. This is the last forum that I have been at long term that hasnt gone under.

Hardly any posts.
The whole forum/portal web layout seems dated.
Only a few people come here to jibba jabba.
I put up a blogging system that goes with this forum software and it doesn't seem to be utilized.
Basically I think this is about 20-25 bucks a month that can be used elsewhere.
Any and all opinions are welcome.

Yeah, the whole point is this is a small community of people who've been hanging out at this place for years. It's like shutting down a small community bar. I don't want to go to Nubs' site or whatever, I want to keep coming to pker. You've been largely out of the community most of the time Mort, so why not hand it off, take it from owned to sort of open source? Give the site to Jil to put on his webhost and then Jil could allow some of us longer people to help upkeep the thing. If I felt some sort of ownership here, I'd definitely keep up a blog and help with advancing the site with programming.
If it does die, I think we should all set up another similar forum, I don't want another situation where we're all camping on one guys' site or forum like barnacles.

Well what if we ditched the blog and went just straight forums. thats around 15/month I believe, and it comes with the forum software. Otherwise, you have to buy the software, which ain't cheap.

That is why I asked if he was willing to give me the domain so we don't have to type in a different address. The site I set up has the ability to use domains. Anyway I don't really care who owns it let's juat keep it going.

Do we all agree that we no longer need the blog? If so, then I will let that go.

I have no problem with getting rid of the blog. No one uses it regularly. Also put up a subscribe link for pay pal for like 5 bucks or maybe less but that way I don't have to remember to donate

Mort what is the going rate on just purchasing the software? It looks like the standard IP Board is like 150$ w/ 6 months of support/upgrades? I'm not sure on the blogs etc.
I can just buy you the software if you wanna host it, or I can buy it and put it on my host, assuming everyone wants to keep this board style. I am indifferent. Either way is fine by me I don't really care who owns the site so long as it is up so I can cyber Darthus on those cold winter nights.
Thoughts?

Cheap web hosting + Open source shit makes keeping up a site super easy and cheap.
