So I am pretty much bored with this game. I know there is a ton of exciting stuff planned for the next patch but honestly I think it will be too little too late. Overall the game felt like a really sad copy of WoW with a poorly implemented attempt to make things a bit more PvP focused. I think with tons of work it could be a pretty good game but with their sub numbers dropping like mad I don't think it will hold onto enough people to maintain more than a few servers with enough folks to actually play the game how it was meant to be played. I don't really get a lot of the design decisions and can only assume that most of what I find lacking in this game is the result of lack of time and/or money. The keep system is a step down from even what was to be found in DAoC pre-frontiers and I feel the zone capture system has been extremely flawed from the getgo. Massive PvP is impossible as the lag just gets insane. In some cases even crashing zones on the server. Throw in massive population imbalance on most servers and you are left with a PvP system that is just not all that fun beyond the occasional small skirmish. *shrug*
Ah well... NEXT?!

I may resub I dunno. The new patch added in some shit to do so I could probably amuse myself with that without too much of an issue. I tried playing some CoH last night with a couple of warhammer friends. It was fun for a bit but I could see it getting old really quick despite the fact that my tanker is absolutely ridiculous looking. Sigh. Stupid MMOs why can't one of them just be so awesome I hate all of the others?

Order assaulted The Maw yesterday evening/night on Alarielle. Locking down Praag and Chaos Wastes was decent fun but in the end we got schooled by a bugged event. Basically, the overlord of the fortress kept resetting and thus, kept spawning champion guards over and over. So in essence, we got owned not by enemy players but by lag and NPCs. Fun!
My sub ends on the 17th and I'm not sure I'll resub. The game is a poorly thought out PvE experience with some PvP tacked on as a gimmick. And I'm not even going to discuss about the idiotic class balance, broken itemization and spells, dull zones, etc.

It could also mean that WAR was too innovative for EA. Remember, they want a WoW-clone because WoW has already made money. Its basically their whole business model. Copy what has already succeeded.

If anything, it wasn't innovative enough.

Warhammer definitely added very little that was new to the game. Public Quests are really the only thing that comes to mind and those leave a LOT to be desired in their implementation. The PvE is just a shitty shadow of WoW. And the PvP is basically like DAoC lite. The keeps and such are a weaker implementation than even the original DAoC pre-frontiers patch/expansion even though the zone claiming is a bit more complex. I dunno. I liked the game it just wasn't anything that did much to change the genre. *shrug*
