So I finally got my SM to 40 Monday. What to do now? Conquer the world?!?! I think I will be doing a ton of PvE and ninja Keep taking now that I am 40. We are trying to get people geared out for when we have enough 40s to start pushing the bigger PvP stuff. Which essentially means gearing out folks in item sets with Wards. Such fun. Actually some of the boss fights aren't so bad if you skip over a ton of the bullshit in Bastion Stair.

Last night we killed the main boss in Warpblade Tunnels (zomg server first). It was an interesting fight I suppose. Really nothing you couldn't find in a WoW raid instance. The primary difference here is that it's a 6 man instance. Even the trash pulls hurt like a motherfucker. I guess as far as PvE goes it was much better than AoCs attempts but not quite as smooth as WoW shizzle. The lockout timers here are super fucking annoying. They need to change them from exact days to being like 22 hours or 20 hours or something less than a day. As things stand now you essentially have to start later each round you want to farm the gear, or skip a day. La de da.

Keep fights with no defense are pretty sad. We dropped two keeps last night just for loot I wanna say it took about 35 minutes total with 8 people for two tier 4 keeps. Hopefully they put in some way to upgrade these at least to the point where they become somewhat challenging to take.

With fallout 3 coming next week I am glad I got getting to 40 over with! I am sure I will be spending a good deal of time slaughtering mutants haha.

So as a 40 SM, are you tanking or 2handing? How is the pvp? How do you deal with the gay frilly costumes that high elves wear?

My char is geared mostly for toughness/wounds and I use a 1h and shield. I haven't done a ton of PvP since hitting 40 last night was supposed to be the fun mass PvP rapage night but we had some nasty ass storm here which raped my cable so I just ended up playing fable 2. I like the way my SM looks though mine is female. I think they look stupid up until T3 and then they start getting some nicer looking gear. *shrug*

Yeah as it is now it must suck being a Bright Wiz/Rune Priest because you're squishy and you can't look like a regular dude just trying to fit in and not get targeted. Same goes for a Zealot and Shaman.

I've not ventured very far out of T1 so I know my view is a bit skewed but as Jil says, you don't start looking different until T3. That is kind of crappy you know. But there are positives still.

Like the Squig Herder and the Maurader. I don't believe I've seen a class before that could change their actual appearance. You know like in Mortal Kombat when you turn into a dragon and bite the dudes head off or whatever.

Squig Herder can basically turn into a Squig and the Maurader can pick and choose what kind of left arm he wants, a mutilated gross monster arm or a big shiny blade. That to me is pretty cool.

In T3, the only time I get killed as a rune priest is when I get more than one person on my tail which doesn't happen that often. Then again, I'm primarily geared in +HP and toughness gear (almost 4k HP at lvl21). The key is to stay mobile at all times (PvP 101).

Also, I just found out two days ago that there's a soft cap on all stats, HP included, which fucking sucks.

I've got 2 dudes to 12 and once I hit 12 it feels like it slows down a fucking lot. Is it just me mentally fucking myself?

I think there are softcaps on the benefits of all stats but I don't think that includes Wounds. I think every class gets the exact same 10 hp per point of wounds at every level. Also I think the character sheets are buggy as fuck. If I equip certain tactics I can get my block to like 57.9% (without them it's like 25% on the char sheet) and my parry to 44% (without them it's like 13% on the sheet). Using perfect defenses which makes my block/parry go up based on what state of balance I am in I can get my parry to like 87% on my character sheet. I think all of the defensive stats also have some sort of weird caps on them as well. *shrug*

Tier 1 is super fast BD and then it slows down. If you enjoy scens you should be able to have a decent enough time grinding through T2 just doing that though if your server is destruction imbalanced you might have a long time between queues (one of the perks of playing order I think there are only 2 order imbalanced servers). Also around T2 renown gear starts to suck balls so you may be better off hanging out at a PQ grinding influence in between scens rather than just sitting where the scenario quests are.

Upper 30s witchelves can become completely retarded. There are some 36+ epic quests that give blue weapons at the end that have hidden procs on them which are all bugged. You can essentially bug it out to where each weapon you wield has 3 chances to proc. The witch elf weapons you can get with 300 damage procs on them that are unmitigatable. So with bugged out procs that can even proc on your kiss you can potentially do 1200-1500 damage in one round. (I probably have more hp than just about anyone order side on my server and in my tanking gear I only have like 8600).

I can't decide if I want to play my Witch Elf, my 1h/shield Chosen, or a Black Orc with a big fuckin 2 hander (i like 2 handers). I'm thinking my chose mainly because he is thick and meaty and doesn't go down easily.

At 11 what I was doing between Scens was taking T1 rvr objectives (sometimes barely, sometimes dying to the champ), but I assume that T2 will have none of those shenanigans.

My brother wants to go questing today, so, maybe we'll do that. Iunno, I like playing alone. But he is my brother... Sucks to feel obligated to not have fun.

Black Orcs are better than Chosen IMO at least in PvP. Really Ironbreakers are the best PvP tank if you want to play a 2h tank and they are better at almost everything than every other tank. Though I think BO and SM can take a tiny bit more of a beating.

This may be a dumb question but (because as of yet I have not seen this) the Chosen you see in PvP are they usually twisting their ae buffs/debuffs?

I usually leave up STR and then when I get in battle turn on the Toughness and then keep twisting them. Once you switch chants the previous lasts for 12 or so seconds, and they're AE buffs AND debuffs at the same time (which just blows mah mind!).

Honestly I don't even pay attention when chosen attack me I have never had one even come close to killing me 1v1. I think at some point they get an AP drain aura which I think could be pretty decent. I am not really sure what else. I personally would never play one just because twisting the auras would get annoying and I think it triggers the gcd.

I believe it does trigger the gcd. But what I noticed playing a Chosen is that I shouldn't be spamming buttons anyway. I run out of action too quickly doing that. There is one time when I spam and that is when trying to kill a tank or healer. For tanks chosen have an attack that does a little less dmg than their big/main attack, but it is undefendable.

Oh hey, guess what else is cool about Warhammer. Skills scale with level! No rank 2-3-4-5 of thumbfuck blister, nooo, only 1 thumbfuck blister skill is necessary and it gets stronger every level.

Hell yes. This was one of my biggest beefs with WoW. I'd be all excited to get a new skill and it'd just be a new rank of sinister strike. Bah. I'd rather I didn't get any new skill at all than be teased.

The only downside is you never see a huge improvement when you level. So unlike in games that have tiers of abilities you will never be like "Holy shit now that I got my new blah blah blah I am back to tearing through ass holy hardcore!!". Aside from that I think they did a decent enough job of giving you skills or tactics for most every level. My biggest bitch with skills is just that so many classes have such similar abilities. It makes for annoying fights in scenarios. Like no one has the super CC of DAoC but every class has so much sissy individual CC that when you pile a bunch of classes together some of the CC gets way out of hand haha.

Yeah my friend says that one of the t3 scenarios is just a race to see who can knock who into the lava.

Tor Anroc. You'll get mad the first dozen times, weep when you'll get close to the hundredth and just sigh once you're past it.

Mythic: Roots and mezzes are ghey, but hey, let's give every fucking class an annoying knockback and knockdown, that'll make for fun CC!

I don't care if DAoC was perfection incarnate in terms of balance, Mythic just doesn't know proper spell/ability design. Not only that, but they can't seem to figure out the math behind it either.

I gotta admit, sometimes I love being knocked back. Sometimes I'll be getting gang raped and some dumb ironbreaker knocks me 50 feet away into my healers and saves my life.

Yeah, I get the same treatment sometimes on my rune priest. Can't tanks aim their knockbacks like everybody else?
