QUOTE (The Epic Sandbox @ Jun 25 2010, 07:30 AM)In a feature earlier this month we talked about how the payment models of MMO’s have changed over the years. One of the games that is offering a model to pay by the month or by the hour is APB. While we questioned its payment model since it isn’t a true persistent game like UO, EQ, and WoW I held off my feelings on this game until now. We recently found out that APB is going to hit you up with in game ads when ever you zone into a new district or for every 3 hours played in 1 district.[Fu... ... [ Read more]

The last we heard from video game designer Richard Garriott, he was in outer space. Taking time off from game design, he dished out $30 million to take a private space flight to the International Space Station. Now he has come down to earth, giving up on massively multiplayer games. But today, he is coming out as one of the founders of Facebook game company Portalarium. The new startup says a lot about the direction of the video game industry, as Garriott joins an exodus of game veterans pursuing the Gold Rush of social games. And it is an i... ... [ Read more]

A Taiwanese man has been named the first ever person to successfully "complete" World of Warcraft, collecting the game's staggering 986 Achievements to effectively do everything there is to do in the hugely successful MMO. This is literally the most amazing news of the day.'Little Gray" beat the game after killing 390,895 creatures, administering 7,255,538,878 points of damage, completing 5,906 quests (averaging 14 quests a day), raiding 405 dungeons and hugging 11 players. This was unexpected, a freebie Flash-based role-playing aperitif from BioWare that's part Diablo, part Baldur's Gate, part "free prize inside!" It's called Dragon Age Journeys, and it's a tactical RPG with stylish cartoon-style art squeezed between the margins of your average-sized browser window. Who says these guys aren't taking it the extra mile in the run up to Dragon Age Origins, their Godzilla-sized PC and console roleplaying game due in a few weeks? The rest of the storyEnjoy
